Dr. Michael P. Nett, a specialist in Sports Medicine and Joint Reconstruction has recently joined North Shore LIJ medical group as full time faculty. Dr. Nett's office is located in Bay Shore. He performs orthopedic surgery at Southside Hospital as well as Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC. Dr. Nett is a fellowship trained specialist in Joint Replacement, Revision Joint Replacement, and Complex Joint Replacement Surgery.

Born and raised in Sayville, Dr. Nett graduated from the Rose Hill Campus of Fordham University. He then earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors and a Distinction in Research. Next, Dr. Nett completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he was recognized with the Outstanding Orthopaedic Award for the highest Orthopaedic In-Training Exam scores and the best clinical/surgical evaluations. During his training at The Mayo Clinic he had extensive training in advanced joint reconstruction including complicated arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty, and the management of infected joint replacements. He then furthered his training by completing an Adult Reconstruction and Sports Medicine fellowship at the Insall Scott Kelly Institute (ISK) in New York City.
Dr. Nett has authored or co-authored multiple orthopedic publications, participated in clinical research and presented at national meetings. He specializes in joint reconstruction of the hip and knee and has a particular interest in complicated and revision joint replacement surgery. He also specializes in sports-related injuries of the hip and knee, as well as fracture surgery.
